Junior Rifle League

We Currently Have Waiting List - Signup Early.

The league is open to Boys and Girls 10-18 who are mature enough, mentally and physically, to control the firearm properly.

The attitude and skills developed in this program can lead to a life time of safe, fun participation in this and other firearm sports. For a talented and dedicated person the path starting here could lead to the Olympic Games.

Parents do not have to be club members for children to participate. The annual $35.00 league fee includes junior membership in club. The nightly shooting fee is $5.00. First night is free.

A two hour rifle familiarization and safety course is required before the first night of shooting. The training starts providing the student with basic attitudes and skills to safely use a firearm.

The team meets 5:30 to 9:30 PM on Tuesday evenings during the school year. The actual range time is about one hour so, when training is not scheduled, shooters will be assigned to a 5:30-6:30, 6:30-7:30, 7:30-8:30 or 8:30-9:30 range session. Range sessions are supervised by NRA Certified Instructors and/or Range Safety Officers.

The club provides rifles and ammunition (families with an appropriate firearm may ask to have it approved by chief instructor for use).

The course of fire used is the National Rifle Association / Civilian Marksmanship Program's 4 position small bore rifle qualification. Shooters who complete the program will gain proficiency in prone, sitting, kneeling, and off hand (standing) positions.

Shooters work through 14 steps from Provisional Marksman to Expert Marksman and are eligible for the respective badges and patches as they progress. Completion through expert usually takes 2-4 years

The team requests that a parent or guardian is present while student is shooting. With prior approval, exceptions may be occasionally possible.

Stop by our indoor range some Tuesday night or call 810-750-0655 for more information. Check for new shooter nights on the www.fentonlakes.com calendar
